What Is Camp?

Whole Camp Photo 2009 (Week 2)

Somerset Christian Camps exists to provide fun and friendship to children between the ages of 7 and 12 for the first two weeks of August each year. It also provides children with the opportunity to explore Christianity further, both through evening meetings full of singing, stories, fun and quizzes (Big Church) and quiet times for questions each morning.

This year, Camp will take place at Mark College near Highbridge in Somerset (though Camp is not affiliated with the school).

The Alligators!

The children are placed in tent groups of about 6 children, led by two adults who's aim on Camp is for the kids in their care to have a fantastic week! At night, the children and their leaders sleep under canvas in large army tents. The spirit of Camp is kept lively by the running of a healthy competition during the week, where points can be earned for nearly everything, from working hard at craft, to being the first tent asleep in the evening - it all works together to ensure everyone is involved and having a good time.

The Emus!

From Monday morning when the children arrive, to Friday evening when they gather their things to head home, the children will take part in a huge variety of sports and craft, trips and games, making life-long friends along the way.
